Brahmousin

Brahmousin is the perfect genetic blend of the Limousin and Braham cattle breed. It combines the excellent meat quality and fast muscle growth of Limousin cattle with the heat and tolerance ability of Braham cattle. They are every cattle breeder’s fantasy because they combine the best of two awesome breeds of cattle. Only animals sired by registered Brahmousin, Limousin or Braham bulls can be recorded as Brahmousin.

Brahmousin cattle originated from the ranch of Daryl Wiggins in the late 1970s. He combined the best characteristics of the Braham and Limousin cattle to produce the Brahmousin breed. A purebred Brahmousinhas three-eighths Braham and five-eighths Limousin. This means that Brahmousin cattle have more of the genetics of Limousin than Braham cattle. Brahmousin cattle that are not bred using the genetic formula used by Daryl Wiggins don’t count as purebred cattle, they, however, count as Brahmousin cattle.

Brahmousin cattle have large and beefy bodies, which means you have more kilograms of beef for sale. They have a weight range of 500kg to 650 kg. They are typically large breeds. They have slightly loose skin, and they get this trait from their Brahman genes. The breed has an excellent and accelerated reproductive rate, and great mothering tendencies. Male Brahmousin cattle boast of ruggedness, virility and reproductive strength. They are aggressive breeders. The females are very fertile, and within a short period, you would find yourself with a strong and healthy herd of Brahmousin cattle. Not only are female Brahmousin fertile, but they also excel at taking care of their calves, and there is a low calf mortality rate. Because of the high parasite tolerance rate of Brahman cattle, the Brahmousin can also boast of that characteristic. You don’t have to worry about parasitic infestations killing off your cattle.

Brahmousin can also withstand and adapt to various environmental conditions. They get this trait from their Braham genes. This means that you can rear your Brahmousin cattle under any climatic condition. They have a high tolerance for heat, and considering their size, require just a substantial amount of food. They have excellent carcass quality, this means that they produce an excellent quantity and quality of beef that’s far better than average.

Another excellent trait the Brahmousin possesses is the ability to forage. This means that they can source grass on their own. You don’t have to spend so much money on feed for them, only providing them with the occasional supplements. As long as they are guided to pasture, they can take care of themselves. You have to be mindful of where they graze, so they won’t get poisoned.

Technology has made it possible for you to determine how you want to crossbreed your Limousin and Braham cattle to produce your signature Brahmousin. For the dominant traits to be those of a Limousin, you need more Limousin genetics than Braham genetics and vice versa.

Brahmousin cattle are the most suitable for commercial cross breeders in Australia. There are so many advantages to rearing Brahmousin cattle.
